On The Rocks TV
There is a new show about
off roading! It is called "On The Rocks TV"
and it is now being shown on The Outdoor Channel network on Mondays.
Off-Road enthusiasts will enjoy this new off-road adventure television
program. Designed with something for everyone, "On The Rocks TV," with
host David Ihrig and world famous off-road expert Rick Russell,
introduces the viewer to the "Dirty Thirty", a group of real characters
with 4WD rigs as they explore the back roads and trails of America.
Each episode airs three times for your viewing convenience: 3:30pm,
6:30pm and 10:30pm PST Monday (check your listings for other time
zones).
You can go to the producer's website
www.OnTheRocktv.com to learn more about the show, watch a promo
video and get info about the cast of characters. This weekly 30 minute
reality-based program introduces viewers to the sport of off-road
driving through a combination of challenging four-wheeling feats,
technical segments, interviews with the drivers, trail cooking segments
and picturesque backroads throughout America.
On the Rocks
is the creation of Coast Media Teleproductions, in Orange County,
California (not Rick Russell). Executive Producer/Director, Art Royce
explains, “The primary goal of the show is to get more people to
understand that the trails need to remain open and protected for the
generations to come, not from them.” On the Rocks allows the
viewer to experience four-wheeling through the eyes of every generation,
from a four-year-old and his teenage siblings to his great-grandparents.
Each show follows
members of the “Dirty Thirty,” a family-friendly group of four wheeling
enthusiasts that share a love for the outdoors, as they lead viewers
into river-carved canyons, over enormous boulders, all in the name of
adventure and preservation. The “Dirty Thirty” is comprised of people
from all walks of life, each with a unique personality and an intriguing
story about what got them hooked on this unusual sport.
Viewers will see the
“Dirty Thirty” overcome the challenges and enjoy the adventures of
four-wheeling in some of America’s most scenic back-country. Both
exciting and informative, this show will enlighten the audience about
the value of respect for the environment and how to protect our
vanishing natural resources. Many of the drivers are involved with trail
clean-up and various environmental projects.
Trail boss, Rick
Russell, a well-respected and long-time advocate of off-road
driving, hosts weekly technical segments that demonstrate and explain
such topics in plain English as choosing the best tire size and how to
use a winch. These tech segments help new 4-wheelers learn how to set up
and use their vehicles like seasoned off-roaders, increasing safety
while minimizing the impact on the environment.

If you don't have access to The Outdoor Channel, maybe you have a friend
that can tape it for you. So far, the producer has not announced plans
to have episode copies available for sale.
(this is not OLN - Outdoor Life Network which is now called Versus)
PS, Rick is just an "actor" in this show. We don't have input on any of
the production details, who gets to be in the show, which episode will
air, etc. We are only watching the show at
this point, just like you. We believe that the 13 episodes will air
twice during the first six months of 2008.
The producers are hoping that an additional 13
episodes will be shown during the second half of the year. And no matter
what happens, you know that Rick has fun doing anything related to four
wheeling.
