AJ-8 Aftermarket Jeep
Rick Russell built his ultimate 4x4 -- ALL from aftermarket parts. The AJ-8 (Aftermarket
Jeep) is an aluminum bodied
Bobbed-Scrambler for street and trail. It basically has
the wheelbase of Rick's CJ-6, but with late model
doors and fenders.
1985 4x4 F250
(built by Rick Russell) This Ford 4x4 Pickup
is used
for wheelin' or carrying a full-size Lance Camper. Of course, it still
must tow a Jeep.
1956 CJ-6 (built
by Rick Russell) This is the vehicle Rick bought in 1976 and he has been modifying
it ever since. Rick compares owning his 4x4 to owning an electric train set.
You always need an accessory that you don't have.
1990 Cherokee
(built by Rick Russell) It took nearly 18 months to build this project vehicle.
The plan was to keep it as an everyday vehicle and for running only the easier
trails. However, when the going got rough, the Cherokee could actually handle
challenging trails. In May 1997 the Cherokee was stolen from a parking lot in
Ontario, CA. Was it parted-out or was it shipped out of the country? That's
the unanswerable question.
